Birds of Paradise Description

This is the story of two young characters who are born into this world and are pushed to evolve through the forces of competition and attraction. Our young characters must find the right mating call, discover the perfect outfit and dance their best dance, because the survival of their gene pool depends on whether they have the rights moves. The pressure to impress is high and it's up to you to decide whether they got the stuff, or whether their moves get waltzed out of existence.

'Birds of Paradise' is a contemporary duo that explores human competition and mating behaviour through the comedic lens of the birds-of-paradise. The birds-of-paradise are members of the family Paradisaeidae, which is composed of 42 different species and 15 genera. These birds are found in eastern Indonesia papua, Papua New Guinea and eastern Australia. The male birds-of-paradise have developed unique mating behaviour that is composed of showing off their feathers, shape-shifting, mating calls, sounds and intricate dance moves. This piece uses aspects of the bird's comically serious evolutionary adaptations, to juxtapose male competition and physical displays in humans.

This piece takes a critical view of behaviours which have become excessive to an extent that is unhealthy for the subject anf those around them, twisting them from something that is confronting, to something to be laughed at.
